Orange tree

Origins and uses

The orange tree belongs to the "citrus" genus which includes all citrus fruits. These trees grown in orchards on the Mediterranean coast can only be grown elsewhere in France, in greenhouses or crates brought in in winter, sheltered from the cold and frost. We use the leaves, the flowers, the fruits but also the bark, the juice and the essences. The orange occupies a special place among the food substances of vegetable origin because of the delicacy of its perfume, its lively acidity balanced by a sweet and sweet flavor and by the salutary effects it exerts on the organism, similar to those of lemon. These are bitter oranges and more particularly their peels, which are used in the composition of some of our distillates.
