Oregano

Origanum Vulgare

Oregano

Origins and uses

Often nicknamed "wild marjoram" or "shepherd's thyme", oregano belongs to the family of labiatae, these aromatic herbs with powerful aromas. It is widespread in most of Europe and Asia, from the plain up to about 2000 meters of altitude. Very fragrant, its pink, slightly bluish or white flowers bloom from July to September and provide bees with abundant and fragrant nectar. Its dried leaves evoke bitter and peppery scents.
